- James was born in Hendersonville, NC. He is the president of Barnette and Coates Inc. He has been in the insurance business since 1993. Graduated from East Henderson High School. After High School he joined and served in the US Navy. After leaving the Military he joined the Family Business.
- He enjoys living in Western North Carolina. Where he hikes and Mountain Bikes. Enjoys spending time with his son.
