Recreational vehicles (RVs) can be wonderful to own and operate. They act as ‘homes away from home’ and are means of exploring and of enjoying new experiences. RVs come with a lot of risks however, and these risks can translate into significant damages that carry large costs. If one has an RV insurance policy, he or she can avoid these costs and stay financially secure.
At Barnette and Coates we know recreational vehicles and their uses very well. We also know how to mitigate the risks that these vehicles bring to owners, and we will mitigate the risks that you face as an RV owner. We’ll do it through a comprehensive insurance plan, and this plan will fit you and your needs in every way.
Unlike a personal automobile (car or truck), an RV requires specific insurance coverages that are not included in most auto policies. Contents, specific liabilities, and equipment are all things that require unique coverage.
Most states have their own laws regarding minimum standard coverages for RVs, and these laws partly determine insurance rates. North Carolina has the lowest average RV rates in the U.S. This is due in part to the low number of high-cost RVs registered in the state, and it benefits RV owners in that it saves them money. It also affords them opportunities to increase their coverage for low costs.
If you have an RV policy from Barnette and Coates, it will reflect low state rates and other factors that influence RV insurance. We will work with you to find a blend of coverage and cost that maximizes your protection and minimizes rates. This blend will help make the solution we create the best possible solution. This solution will maximize the value of your insurance investment.
There are coverages that almost all RV policies have and there are coverages that only some RV policies have. The determining factors in differences in coverages are owners, vehicles, and uses. These factors are critical as they help determine the coverage in any individual plan, which should be tailored to the plan owner. If a plan is tailored, it has a greater chance of being effective than a ‘one-size-fits-all’ plan.
Most RV policies include four types of basic coverage: liability, comprehensive, collision, and uninsured/underinsured motorists. These coverages are a lot like those found in most auto insurance policies, but in the case of RVs, the coverages are unique.
If you purchase an RV policy, your agent will go over all of the basic coverages you need in this policy. He or she will also go over other coverage options, which will make the protection your policy provides complete. These other coverage options include:
If you work with Barnette and Coates you will be able to take advantage of benefits and discounts that captive insurers cannot provide. Some of these benefits and discounts are parts of standard coverages and include:
You will also have total-loss replacement and agreed value options. These options allow you to secure your RV and its contents in the ways you feel are best. They also help determine your rates, which you can also influence to fit as well as possible.
Due to North Carolina state law, all RV owners are required to carry at least $30,000 for bodily injury per person, and $60,000 per incident in which an owner is at fault. The state also requires a $25,000 minimum for property damage liability per incident. A policy with us certainly meets these coverage standards and the costs of purchasing this policy are minimal. We recommend, in fact, having greater coverage than is required by state standards, as greater coverage has a better chance of completely protecting you. Purchasing this coverage is often not much more expensive than purchasing minimal coverage.
We will help you determine the right coverage for your needs and will ensure that your policy is optimal. We will compare rates and plans from different carriers and will work with you to find the solution that fits you best. You, your RV, your passengers, and your property and possessions will be protected for the right amount of costs.
We’ll also manage risk and claims. We’ll help you employ best practices in order to reduce the exposures that you face and to help ensure that exposures do not translate into damages. Additionally, we’ll advocate for you and help you achieve suitable resolutions, if and when claims are filed.
Barnette and Coates is proud to provide recreational vehicle insurance in Hendersonville, Asheville, Fletcher, Saluda, Weaver, and Leicester, NC. We also serve other areas in the state and we serve South Carolina as well.
